Company News

Well it is hard to believe that we are nearly into April and as usual, we have another busy year planned ahead of us. But before we tell you about any  new developments, we would just like to reflect on what has been happening over the past couple months.
 
Firstly, we are delighted to mention our recent OFSTED inspection at our CherryBrook nursery in New Haw which took place in November 2010. Despite this happening 18 months earlier than we anticipated, it didn’t stop us from being successful which led to us securing an overall rating of “GOOD” with 6 areas rated as Outstanding.
 
In December 2010, we launched our new nursery management system. Training took place in November in readiness and all managers are now fully trained and although with any new system there is a lot to learn. The new system is already proving to be a success and has already reduced a lot of paperwork and managers time in filling in records manually.
 
From a parents perspective you will also have seen a change in how we produce our invoices giving you greater clarity of what you are being charged for and payments received.  If your email is registered with us you will receive the invoices automatically around the middle of the month. 
 
In addition, we have made changes to simplify the booking of extra sessions as we know there are times where you need that flexibility. 

Elite Programme

This new programme “Early Learning Initiative Towards Excellence “was introduced to our staff in October 2010. Back in our July 2010 newsletter, it was mentioned how we had introduced regular curriculum audits within our nurseries, known as Early Years Environmental Rating Scale, ECERS.  This is used as an improvement tool and helps us to measure the quality of care, education and the environment in which we provide for our children. These were all carried out in 2010, in our preschool rooms and resulted in the manager’s and their teams recognising their strengths and where improvements needed to made. Each nursery was given some money to spend on resources & equipment to help them improve the environment for our children. The results of these were also used to recognise where any further staff training was required.
 
In 2011, we will be focusing on the Infant & Toddlers, known as ITERS. Again, these will be carried out in all our Nurseries by our Area Manager, Sally Lawless.
 
Both ITERS and ECERS are carried out in line with the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) and all form our ELITE programme.
 Extra Bank Holiday

We would like to inform all of our clients, that nursery will be closed on the Friday 29th April in honour of the Royal Wedding.
This will of course be in addition to our usual bank holiday closures at Easter which this year fall on the 22nd & 25th April and the 2nd & 30th May.
We hope you all enjoy your extra day off this year!

Child Development Records


From 1st April, we will be introducing new Development Records for the children.  Over the last few months, a team of managers have been reviewing our current records and making changes to these following any recommendations from our recent OFSTED inspections, feedback for Local Authority training courses and advice for our Surrey Early Years Advisors.
 
These will be introduced gradually throughout the nursery by the staff and any current records and evidence we have already on your child, will still be used and placed in their new file.
Within the new files, there will be some guidelines on how these are used but our main aim was to give you, their main carers, the opportunity to make further contribution to your child’s learning and development  which will help us to link their achievements at home with nursery.
 
Over the next few months, we will also be focusing on reviewing and making changes to our current planning and observations. Our aim is to make our planning even more individual, focusing more on their current needs and interests as well as producing more effective observations that will assist staff in there short term weekly planning.
Our aim is to have made the above changes, train all of our staff and in place by 1st September 2011. Watch this space........
 

Extra Sessions

If you require any extra sessions or you would like to make a change to your child’s permanent sessions, then new forms are available to make the process easier for you.  The forms can be obtained from your nursery office


Fee Management


Our mission is to produce your fee invoice right first time.  However, we do understand from time to time you may have a query relating to any charges or payments made.
 
If you have any queries about your invoice we will endeavour to solve as quickly as possible. In the first instance you should discuss your query with your nursery manager who can with the introduction of the new management system access your account details and payment history. This will help them in assisting you to resolve any issues in the majority of cases. However, where payments are made by vouchers or other methods your manager may be unable to resolve the matter initially, and in these instances they would then liaise with our Head Office in order to get this resolved both quickly and efficiently.
 
Don’t forget if you register your email with us we will send your invoice to you around the middle of the month.

What's Happening

We have many wonderful ideas and events planned for 2011 including an Easter Parade, Grandparents Day, our Annual Nursery Summer Fete and the Pre-school rooms Graduation Party as well as all of the many other wonderful ideas that the team plan for the children as we go through the year.

 Firstly we will be starting off the year with parents evening on the 17th March where you have all been invited to come in and discuss your child’s progress and development with their Child Development Supporter. We do encourage all of our parents to join us on the evening even if your child has not been at the nursery for long so that you can get to know the team better and to celebrate some of your children’s achievements. We will have lots going on including some activity’s that the children enjoy doing for you to try out, photos, and a video of them throughout the day. We will also be asking you to sample examples of the food from our menus as well as other displays and information which will be made available for you. We hope to see you all there.

 Also, I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone for being so welcoming to me, and my little girl Macey on our return to work following my maternity leave. I hope that you will all join me is congratulating Lucy and the team on looking after the nursery so well in my absence. I am sure you will agree that they have done a fantastic job.
